After an anxious wait for a Wild Card entry into the 2017 Portuguese International Ladies Amateur Championship, Jessica Hall certainly proved herself to be a worthy competitor. Over four days in January, a truly international field, including members of the European Curtis Cup Team, faced disruption in play thanks to some extremely unseasonal frost, wind and rain. Additional warm clothes and waterproofs were unexpected late purchases for many of the players.

The course which is one of the most beautiful and competitive courses in Portugal, distinguished by a landscape dominated by vineyards, streams and lakes proved to be extremely challenging, especially the intimidating island green at the 18th hole.
