..... if you have a hole-in-one you can have your name added to the Hole-in-One board?

Whether you have a hole-in-one in a friendly match or a competition you can have your name added to the board if you complete a hole-in-one form. This is available from the Secretary and requests details of the event and signature of a witness.

Senior Membership

... when you reach 60 years of age you can join the Senior's Section?

To become a member of the Senior Section contact Geoff Stephenson, the Seniors Secretary. Annual subscription is only £3 and you will be eligible to play in the regular seniors friendly matches, home and away, as well as taking part in Seniors competitions and social events.

Central Database of Handicaps


....there is now a Central Database of Handicaps?

During 2008/2009 the EGU has been developing the NEW CENTRAL DATABASE OF HANDICAPS (CDH) with the full support of CONGU. This process is now complete and active with its implementation mandatory from 1st May 2010.

All BAGC members are now registered with the CDH. Some of the benefits are:

  • Automatically send and receive records of away scores
  • For open competitions the Committee can interrogate basic handicaps of all golfers
  • In the future handicap certificates will not be required as handicaps can be downloaded from the CDH - please note this applies only to the English Golf Union. If you are abroad you mat still require a handicap certificate.

N & D Alliance

... you can join the Northumberland & Durham Alliance?

The Northumberland & Durham Alliance is an Alliance of members and Professionals of Golf Clubs in Northumberland & Durham. They normally play one competition per month on different courses throughout the North East. Some Club Professionals also take part in these competitions which provide a reasonably priced game on some good courses. Full details can be obtained from the Secretary.

Go to "Weblinks" (Information Menu) and click on Golf Empire or click here. This site lists many local and national open competitions which can be sorted by Club, County or competition type.

County membership

...if you become a County member you get reduced green fees on most County courses?

Members of Durham County Golf Union can play the courses of other clubs in the scheme at members' rate i.e normally half the usual green fee. The County also runs competitions through the year. County membership application forms can be obtained from the Secretary.

Golf outside Durham

... you can get reduced rate golf outside of Co Durham?

The Club has joined the County Card Scheme covering not only all of the Northern Counties but also most of the English Counties. To establish which clubs in each County have joined the scheme visit www.bbogolf.com or www.ncgu.co.uk
