Thomlinson Cup

Successes for the golf club continues after Briony Bayles & Angela Simpson win the Thomlinson Cup after defeating South Moor 2&1 in the semi final then defeated Brancepeth 5&3 in the final which was held at Brancepeth Golf Club.

Well done ladies

Briony's Hot Streak

Briony finished second in the DCLGA Junior Championship.

In her last 13 rounds she has reduced her handicap 11 times from 1.6 to +0.3.  Great stuff!

+1 shortly?

Jessica's Hot Streak

After a disappointing first round in the Birkdale Scratch Jessica shot 9 under in the second round, equaling the course record.

Then, in the Durham Girls Championship at Brancepeth she shot 4 under and 8 under, this time breaking the Brancepeth course record. These 3 scores mean her handicap has tumbled to +3.0, losing around 2 shots in 3 rounds.

Brilliant!

Ladies Annodata

Like the men, our ladies progressed very well in this new competition.  They were lucky enough to be drawn at home for 3 out of 4 matches winning first at home against South Moor.  Then they were drawn away to Ganton against whom they won most convincingly on a gloriously sunny day, much to Ganton’s dismay - it was clear they did not expect to lose.  Then came another home draw, this time against Pleasington, a tough team to beat but our ladies came through again, despite giving away many shots.  Finally, they played against Bolton at home on Saturday 12th August.  As usual, several of our players were giving shots.  Angela played well and came through winning on the 17th 2:1 but unfortunately our other ladies were unable to rally against the rest of the Bolton team who played competently and with determined intent.  The match ended in Bolton winning 4:1 in the midst of a tropical deluge - they were ecstatic and not a little surprised that they had won, but Bishop Auckland were gracious in defeat.

Commiserations to our ladies - you did so well to get so far - there's always next year.  Well done to all those who have supported, both at home and away, through deluge and sunshine - your support is much valued.

annodata Match Play

Saturday afternoon saw the ladies host a very strong Pleasington Ladies team in an Annodata Round 3 match. Briony Bayles kicked off proceedings and even after her -2 par round she lost 1 down after giving 9 shots. Angela Simpson levelled the tie after winning another tight match 1up. In a level match Jackie Price lost to some great golf 5&4 giving the away the advantage. Sue Wright levelled the tie up after a super 2up victory leaving the game in the balance. Jessica Hall who last week won our club championship continued her fine form beating a 3 handicapper 4&3 securing the victory

Annodata Matchplay R2

On a lovely warm Saturday summers day the ladies team travelled to Ganton, a club steeped in history for their 2nd Annodata Matchplay match.
County Champion Briony Bayles kicked off proceedings with a close 2up victory which was followed up with a emphatic 7&6 victory from Angela Simpson. Narrow defeats for Jackie Price & Sue Wright left the game in the balance at 2-2. Jessica Hall played in the deciding game and used all her experience to clinch the tie after her 3&2 victory.
